Chris and I have been commemorating the 5 year anniversary (K+5) of ...
the effect of Hurricane Katrina on New Orleans by watching:
Treme on HBO.
Law & Disorder on PBS.
If God Is Willing and Da Creek Don't Rise by Spike Lee.
Hurricane Katrina: The First Five Days by Brian Williams.
This Sunday we plan on attending the New Orleans Celebration at the Jazz Heritage Center in San Francisco.
(late edit)
Chris & I second lined the "MJ's Brass Boppers" as they came down the street and into the JHC Koret Heritage Lobby. They were a blast but in hindsight I'm concerned that I can't find a web page for 'em. Are they a real band or what?
We attended a lecture by photographer Lewis Watts and historian/professor Eric Porter in the JHC screening room.
Later, we saw another documentary and one that we had missed when it was on PBS: Treme Faubourg.
People we chatted with:
Peter Fitzsimmons
Mars Breslow
