memorial bicycle ride to place a "Ghost Bike" in Oakland today.
I met up with a group organized by Walk Oakland Bike Oakland at the intersection of Market and 52nd in West Oakland where bicyclist Peter Webster was killed by a car on April 30th.
We rode ~10 miles across Oakland to the intersection of MacArthur and Patterson in East Oakland where bicyclist Erik Fitzpatrick was killed by a car and AC Transit bus on May 19th.
Erik's family met the group at the end of the ride and had a brief memorial - it was a very sobering experience which brought back memories of Russell and Gem.
