My review of ...
Avatar follows:
Pros:
It was in 3-D with continous special effects.
It was shorter than Gettysburg.
There were no Ewoks (dancing or not) in the final 'happy' scene.
It's now the most profitable 3-D film, beating "The Stewardesses" from 1969.
Cons:
It was in 3-D, and the requisite glasses left marks on the bridge of both mine and Chris's noses.
The Gungan people (I.e. Jar Jar Binks) were almost unrecognizable in 3-D.
There were no characters named "Dances with Wolves". The same character was there, just with the wrong name aka Jake Sully.
They continually mentioned the all encompassing life force, but never by the correct name of "Midi-chlorians". Sheesh.
They cut the only sex scene to save it for the future DVD release.
Taglines (decide for yourself):
Avatar == "An All New World Awaits"
"The Stewardesses" == "See the lusty stewardesses leap from the screen to your lap".
There were no Ewoks (dancing or not) in the final 'happy' scene.
Overall score (out of a possible 100) == 2.73

As James Cameron intended, I really felt in a new way a little bit of what the Native Americans must have felt as we cut down their forests and took over their lands.
Some of the death scenes really got to me and I cried for Russ during the movie, then Barry and I walked out towards the lobby after watching ALL of the credits and we ran into Dave Lawler -- poor guy, I practically fell on his neck sobbing that I missed Russ so much...he answered that he misses him, too, and he prays for him every day.
So, Avatar left me an emotional wreck. (But the New Zealand scenery was breathtaking!)
